FAQ
What's up with the word "Slut"?
Today, "slut" is used to define feminine spectrum folk by perceived or actual sexual activity. As there are far fewer social, cultural, and religious restrictions placed on male sexuality it’s typically a gendered derogatory term used to slander a woman. Pervasive fiction suggests a women's worth lies in her sexual purity and belonging to a man, therefore this word has destructive potential. Using this word in my practice is a joyful act reclaiming the power of feminine sexuality in all genders as self-owned, pleasure-centered, and deeply valuable.
Why do you offer sex-postive therapy?
I was drawn to Psychotherapy to study
intergenerational trauma as a means for understanding how sexuality oppressed in all genders might find healing and freedom of expression. I seek to provide healing from the impact that orthodox traditions have had on human sexuality.
What are your fees?
My current fees slide from $333-260/50 minute session, $445-350/80 minute session. Group fees for street-based sex workers slide from $70-200/50 minute sessions, with further scholarship available for trans/gnc/black and brown folx.
The majority of sessions take place by phone, occasionally by video, or outdoor walking Eco-session. If you'd like to work together, I welcome an introductory discovery call (half an hour, video, $100-0) - if we aren't the right fit, I’ll be happy to provide you with referrals from a tight network of supportive therapists.
Do you take insurance?
I do not accept insurance directly, but I can provide you with monthly super bills that some companies will be able to reimburse. I can counsel you on how to ask your place of employment if they have the capacity to support your mental health.
How does meeting with you work?Initially, weekly appointments help create a safe and reliable opportunity for a confidential, accountable, and mutually trusting relationship between us. Once connected I can offer ongoing sessions every other week. You're always welcome to book a single session with me if we've worked in an ongoing capacity before.
With your active participation, in and outside of our time together, this work can help to increase knowledge, awareness and insight into yourself, your needs, goals and values.
In turn, this can radically change communication skills, impact relationships, self-esteem, and the ability to make clear, informed choices.
What is Eco-Therapy?This perspective considers the critical fact that people are intimately connected with, embedded in, and inseparable from the rest of nature. It is an approach that seeks to integrate within, rather than remove us from the elements. As an eco-spiritualist I work with the
Wheel of the Year, and am happy to extend this work into our sessions on request.
Practically, this means I may encourage you to spend some, or all of the time meeting outside. Many clients find this to be a welcome reprieve from sitting and working indoors for much of the day.
Eco sessions are located in a sunnier part of San Francisco, but come dressed to find comfort in variable conditions.
There are rain sites immediately available at both meeting locations.
AccessibilityBathrooms at the in-person meeting locals are gender neutral. The bathroom of the rain site in the outer Mission has 5 steps. Both locations have wheelchair accessible cafes within 1-4 blocks.
There are immediate, comfortable places to sit indoors and out. There is access to filtered water and food at both locations.
I’m a little nervous, what’s our first session going to be like?
If meeting by phone or video, our first session will be a chance for us to chat about what is bringing you in at this time. I’ll ask you questions about your life today as well as questions about your background. It’s also your opportunity to get to know me and together we can decide if we’re a good match.
If meeting as a couple, polycule, or constellation, our first session will be an introduction to the dynamic of the group. I will set up 1-1 meetings with each person in the weeks following, to learn your priorities as individuals. We will then choose an ongoing time to meet as a group. It can be challenging getting multiple calendars to align; you and yours are welcome to book the 1-1 first, even if the intention is to move towards couples+ counseling.
If meeting in person, I will be waiting for you onsite at the location that best suits your needs. We will walk/roll, sit, and talk. I’ll be dressed to walk 0 - 5 blocks to one of the preferred mapped spots nearby. Please let me know if you would rather we continue walking during the session. If my body is up for it, we can stay on the move.
If we do not agree to work together, I’ll do my best to give you a great referral. I am happy to offer consultations to your present or future psychotherapist to make sure you are in good hands.
Is therapy confidential?
The law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and a practitioner. However, there are a number of exceptions to this rule:
- In cases of suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse. The therapist is required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
- If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s.
- If a client intends to harm themselves. A therapist must make every effort to enlist cooperation in ensuring safety. If they do not cooperate, further measures may be taken without their permission, in order to ensure their safety.
What’s your cancellation policy?
In order to avoid the full charge of our session, please cancel or reschedule your appointment with at least 48 hours notice. This policy applies to events that are within and outside of your control.
I live outside of California, can I work with you?Ethically I cannot offer therapeutic services outside the state of California. If you have goals to work on, connect with my individual and group
